Proof That Crescent Kayaks Are Exactly What You Are Looking For

Crescent Kayak

Searching for the best tandem Kayak? When it comes to kayaks there are a ton of options on the market. But one company caught our attention with their quality craftsmanship and innovative design.

The company, Crescent Kayaks makes several different models of kayak, but we went with their Crescent Crew Tandem Kayak.

This spring, we purchased two and tested them out. In this blog post I’m going to give an honest review of what it’s like using this kayak so you can decide for yourself whether or not they’re worth it.

The founder of Crescent Kayaks, James Derbecker started the company in 2001. Since then he has been designing some pretty innovative and functional kayaks that are made here in America. The owner stands behind his product with a lifetime warranty for every boat sold to make sure you’ll be safe out there paddling around.

First Impressions

One of the first things we noticed about the Crescent Crew Kayak when floating on the water was that the kayak was very easy to maneuver on the water while still providing stability. We also noticed that the seat was so comfortable. You can adjust the seat to be repositioned (more about that later) and makes your day on the water relaxing.

Features

The Crescent kayaks are designed with the user in mind so you can explore and experience your favorite waterways in comfort, style, and safety! Lets take a look at some of the features on the Crescent Crew Tandem Kayak.

Adjustable Foot Rests

The adjustable foot tracks on this kayak allow paddlers of any size to enjoy a comfortable ride.

Cup Holders

Four cup holders provide plenty of hydration on the kayak, so you can enjoy a refreshing beverage in between your paddling.

Drain plugs

The kayaks have 4 drain ports, also called scupper holes in the hull, which allow you to empty out any water that may get inside of the kayak during your trip.

Seats

I have nothing but good things to say about the Kayak Seat – I don’t know about you, but I’m not getting any younger. Sitting in the kayak for hours on end can be a pain to your backside. These aluminium-framed seats and breathable mesh backs make for a comfortable day because they are so comfortable to sit in even during long times out on the water. Plus, these versatile chairs can be positioned to face each other or in solo mode.

Ergonomic Carrying handles

Injection-molded handles are ergonomic and help you load your kayak in a breeze, making it easier to take anywhere!

Bungee storage

The large rear tankwell is great for storing your gear on the kayak. It comes complete with bungees to securely fasten a cooler or dry bag in place.

Review

Here is an honest review of the crescent crew tandem kayak. We go over all its features and give you a complete rundown on what it has to offer!

Design

Crescent Kayaks patented hull design and full-length keel keep you tracking straight in all conditions. The bulbous nose provides extra buoyancy with the rocker profile providing superior maneuverability, no matter if you are paddling tandem or solo. The Crescent Kayaks design is both aesthetically pleasing and functional, it’s easy to see why so many people love this model.

Stability

This kayak can carry a tremendous amount of weight without compromising stability. They are so stable, that we can have our dogs on the kayak without tipping us! This kayak accommodates 500lbs, making it perfect for solo or tandem trips! At 35″ wide, you’re guaranteed to have plenty of space on this boat. The performance of Crescent Kayaks is not to be denied.

Quality

Crescent Kayaks is proud to produce their kayaks with the lowest failure rate of any company in the industry. The lifetime warranty on all models reflects this pride and trust that they put into Aquatuf® Resin as a quality material for their products. Something I really like about the way they make their products is how durable and long lasting each one seems to be – virtually nothing can break these things down because they’re so well built.

User Rating

There is only one flaw that affects my review of this kayak and that is the weight.  It’s heavy and I need help carrying the kayak to the water. Though the weight is a bit of an issue for me (being a small female), I still think this kayak is worth it.

Crescent Kayaks is a solid choice for those looking to get into kayaking. They offer many different models and sizes, so you can find the perfect one that suits your needs. With features such as stability in waves or maneuverability on rivers, this company has something for everyone!

Kayaking Gear Checklist

If you’re just starting out with kayaking and getting overwhelmed by all the gear that’s being offered, don’t worry- we’ll help you figure out what essentials you need without breaking the bank or going overboard on expensive pieces that might not be necessary.

Paddle: Find a paddle made with lightweight materials like fiberglass-reinforced plastics and aluminum as this makes it easier to maneuver your vessel across watery terrain without getting too tired or weighed down by heavy paddles

Life Jacket: A kayaker’s most essential piece of equipment is a good life jacket. There are many factors to consider when making your selection, and it is arguably the single most important decision you will make before going out on that first paddle.

Dry Bag: You might find yourself in the water at some point. Whether you lose your balance and accidentally flip, or be caught off guard by bad weather and get tossed overboard. To avoid losing all your gear when this happens, make sure to pack it away securely with a dry bag.

Water Shoes: Getting the right shoes for kayaking can make or break your experience, so it’s important to take some time to find a selection that will be most comfortable and durable. You might want something with good grip on slippery surfaces in addition to materials like neoprene which are quick-drying.

Sunscreen: Sun protection is an essential item for any water sport. If you don’t want to end up with a nasty sunburn, make sure that your hat and sunscreen are always within reach!

Water Bottle: You can get dehydrated quickly with minimal exertion while out on the water. If you’re heading to a place where there’s little shade and lots of sun, pack more than enough fluids for your outing!

Quick Dry Towel: The quick dry towel is an essential for kayakers. It absorbs water quickly and dries fast, especially in the sun!
